Why do many Filipinos remain poor

This post is part of Blog Action Day 2011 on the Hacienda Luisita Massacre, as justice remains elusive in the 7 years since the incident in 2004. The family of Philippine President Benigno Aquino III, who owns Hacienda Luisita, remains to be adamant on the pleas of the poor farmers, and it looks like the Aquino presidency was meant to protect and seal the Cojuangco-Aquino’s hold on the land.
